I had a wonderful surprise today while bagging groceries at work. A couple
came into my line and as I reached for a bag ,the man said, "We don't want any
bags, we're from Virginia." I looked up to see who it was, and it was no other
than our own Mayberry Deputy, David Browning. It took me a few seconds to place
David, as I have only seen pictures of him in his Barney uniform. He and his
wife Patty had been at the Taylor Home Inn and was on his way to central
Wisconsin to do a program so they stopped in at Eau Claire to see me. We had
such a wonderful visit albeit was much too short as we were busy and I had to
keep working. Only one word to describe that surprise, BIG. He was as gracious
as I had thought he would be and then some. They had a delightful time at the
Taylor Home Inn and they were so impressed with everything about it.

My Mayberry presentation tonight went very well. There was a very good turnout
at the Historical Society and the folks were so enthusiastic about my
presentation. I had never fielded as many questions from a group as I did
tonight. I even ran out of books to sell so I have to mail a few out tomorrow.
There was a lunch afterwards and as usual it was so much fun listening to
everyone talk about their favorite characters and episodes.
