Andy Griffith himself would be the first one to vehemently "NIP" a Mayberry/Hooterville crossover in the proverbial "BUD." Andy's stated in 'TV Guide' and elsewhere that TAGS was not "corn comedy" like Paul Henning's trio of series. TAGS was just set in a rural setting and incorporated both comedic and dramatic themes, unlike the "Hooterville" trio. Had CBS exces tried that, Griffith would not have minced words, and would have probably called them what Ben Matlock would call a difficult witness. However, CBS publicity photos pictured Jim Nabors with Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor in a crossover campaign.
