One of the things that is so appealing about TAGS is the small town of
Mayberry and the fact that Andy and Barney have spent their entire lives
living in Mayberry. It makes me wonder about our Digest Family. How many
of you continue to live in or near your hometown where you grew up? My
brother lives in our home town yet and I often think he is fortunate in many
ways as he has been able to continue to nourish all those relationships he
had as a young person. So it would be interesting to hear from any of you
who still live in your hometown and what your feelings are as to whether you
are happy that you stayed or whether you wish you would have moved on to
other places.
I for one live only an hour away from my hometown so I am able to go back
whenever I feel like it and I have been able to keep in touch with many of
the people who I knew as a child. I am glad that I chose to stay close to
"home" and though I realize I may have missed out on many new experiences by
moving away I feel enriched and blessed by staying close to my hometown and
I am comforted to know that I will be laid to rest their some day among
family and friends.
