I would love to spend one Christmas in Mayberry. To be in this special place at such a special time of year would be so wonderful. Perhaps Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Ellie, Opie, Floyd, Gomer, and Goober and all the rest would join together in an evening of caroling throughout the town. Perhaps a rare and unexpected snowfall would descend upon Mayberry adding to its beauty and serenity. I would love to visit all the merchants of Mayberry shopping for long forgotten simple gifts that would bring out the oohs and ahhs upon being opened. Imagine a candlelight Christmas service at the All Soul's Church listening to Reverend Tucker tell the Christmas story and listening to the church choir as they sing Silent Night Holy Night. Perhaps I could be there in time to watch Opie's Christmas program at school and listen to the children sing all those beautiful Christmas carols and watch as the three wise men followed the brilliant star in the East. It would be so wonderful to hear everyone say "Merry Christmas" rather than "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". And of course I would want to stop by and see the Nativity Set that was set up in the park for everyone to enjoy. Oh yes, wouldn't it be grand to be able to spend at least one Christmas in Mayberry? I realize this is but a dream, but at least I can wish all my special Mayberry friends on the Digest a most wonderful and Merry Christmas. In a world that is too often filled with so much hate and violence, my Christmas wish for all of you friends is that true peace and love may find their way into your hearts during this wonderful time of year. I also wish that 2011 may be the year when the world will finally see true peace on earth and good will toward all mankind. Merry Christmas everyone.
