Perhaps one of things I most envy about Barney and Andy staying in Mayberry all their lives is that have been friends since early childhood. It means they have shared all the joys and heartaches of being a child and teenager. I so wish I was still best friends with someone I grew up with so I would have someone to share all those common memories. I always enjoy the scenes when Andy and Barney talk about things they did when they were kids. Right now I am really working hard on trying to reconnect with many of my childhood friends. I am having some great success thanks to classmates.com and a few other searches that I have done. Just today I received two emails from two close friends from my childhood that I haven't seen or heard from in 45 years, and we promised we would stay in close contact. However, with the joy of reconnecting with these two friends I also learned that another very close school friend died unexpectedly this past summer. Other than my siblings and two uncles, I really do not associate with anyone regularly that knew me when I was young. So I am sure I have forgotten many important events in my life. Barney and Andy were indeed so fortunate to have been blessed with so much time together. I am so looking forward to rediscovering more old friends from my past and rekindling some lost memories of some wonderful days gone by.
