Reading about the fireplace not being used it got me to studying about how many times we saw actual fire in Mayberry, so I listed all the times I could think of. I did not count the fire used to light cigarettes, cigars, or pipes.

Opie and his Merry Men had a campfire as well as the tramp.

Opie and his club had the Sacred Candle lit and the barn caught fire.

Opie and Andy had a campfire frying a fish at the lake.

Campfire when Andy and Barney and Gomer took the boys camping.

Barney lighting his lighter by the dynamite.

Fireplace lit when Andy and Mary were at her house.

Barney and Gomer roasted a bird over their fire when lost.

Barney had a lit candle when he spoke with the Count.

There were fires by the stills with the Morrison sisters and other moonshiners.

We saw the food on fire in the fancy restaurant where Andy took Peggy.

There was food on fire when Gomer took everyone to the expensive restaurant in Raleigh.

OK, that is a list I came up with off the top of my head. I am sure there has got to be more if anyone can
think of them.
