Hey, Mayberry friends. Just a few comments about the podcast this week. Party
lines: I remember them well. We got our first phone around 1960 and was
originally a 4-party line. It was common to pick up the phone and hear someone
talking. Listening to the recent conference call with the WBMUTBB members was
sorta' like listening in on a party line but without feeling guilty. Our
original number contained letters, too. Also, barbershops: I still go to an old
fashioned barbershop where the gossip mostly consists of; where are the fish
biting? or, did you get a deer this year? or, have you got your soybeans in
yet? But no razors or shaving (something about blood-borne diseases and
liability issues.) Also, it's operated by an old school friend, known him for
years. Just a word about witch hazel (an astringent, like Seabreeze.) It's
mentioned a lot at Floyd's and feels so good on your face after shaving.
"Everybody shaves, men that is, and I'm a man." It's
still sold at the drug store.

When subjects such as these come up on the podcast I find it hard to listen
because my mind starts drifting to thoughts and memories and I have to go back
and listen again.

Allan does a great job and I enjoy the podcast each week.
