It would seem more likely that Barney and Andy are not first cousins. Perhaps their families were just very close and not blood related. But out of their close friendship, they had their sons call them Aunt (Barney's or Andy's Mother) and Uncle (Andy's or Barney's Father). When Andy is passing Ernest T off as his cousin Oliver Gossage, Barney say's "Oh, Ollie" like he knew him. But Andy didn't say "our cousin Ollie".
I also come from a large extended family, and at the reunion there always seemed to be a crowd blocking access to the food, or exit, etc. My dad's cousin told me that he just pushed through saying, "Excuse me cousin, excuse me cousin" because that kinda covered everyone.
