I had a very wonderful experience yesterday. One of our local TV stations,
WQOW, came to our house to do some taping and interviewing for a Mayberry piece
they are going to run next Monday night on their six o'clock news. The
reporter was really excited about doing a Mayberry story so he spent an hour
video taping all my Mayberry collections and especially the squad car. He
asked me numerous questions and had me demonstrate everything on the car. I
had to explain the significance of the one bullet and even had to demonstrate
taking my gun out of my holster. First question was whether or not I was a
Barney Fife impersonator, and I certainly set the record straight on that. I
was able to share my story of how I received my uniform from our own David
Browning and I was able to put in a nice plug for the Digest and of course the
Taylor Home Inn. He really enjoyed the Hawthorne Villages and taped my trains
traveling through Mayberry for quite a while too. He said the piece he was
planning would be about two minutes long on the nightly news but he wanted to
do a lot of taping and interviewing so he could do a good job of it. It will
be very interesting to see what he comes up with. I will post a link to the
video next week after it airs. I offered my video on the chicken trick but he
wasn't really interested in that. I suppose he figured it would take the edge
away from Mr. Food's Program.
