My nephew sent me a picture of another Mayberry squad car he came across in a city here in Wisconsin. It was a 1957 two door Chevrolet Bel Air. It had the same logo on the door as I have plus the bubble light on top. I loved the answer about my chain question when someone replied that Barney bought them to keep his tag around his neck. That was a great comeback. I had totally forgotten about that little tidbit. I recall to Barney mentioning that his whistle had a strong chain one time when he was turning in all his equipment when he resigned. I wonder too if that was a chain that Barney used to pull out the cell window or if it was a rope. I will have to go back and check that one out. I am thinking it was a rope. True story. Years ago when I was teaching I had a parent come to my classroom one night after school just irate. She said her son was beaten up with chains by one of the boys in my classroom. To make a long story shorter, I checked into the matter using all my B Fife detection skills and I discovered it was true. The boy was indeed hit several times by a chain on his way home from school. However, it turned out to be one of those little chains with a rabbit foot on the end. The boy forgot to mention that one detail to his mother. Kenneth G.
