One of my favorite non-dialogue moments in TAGS (though it's only a brief moment with no speaking) is during the episode when Barney has lost his room at Mrs. Mendlebright's rooming house and has to stay in the back room of the courthouse. He hosts Thelma Lou at the courthouse one evening and tries to create a romantic mood by turning out the lights. Andy and Opie pass by and see the lights go on and off, so they look inside. There's Barney with his back to Andy and Opie, leaning into the filing cabinet, and Thelma Lou at Andy's desk, sitting up very straight and proper with the most wide-eyed look of complete innocence imaginable. Cracks me up every time I see it!
I also love the epilogue of another episode where Andy and Helen are sitting on the porch with Andy playing the guitar. He then calls to Barney in the darkened house to come out so they can sing "The Fox." There's silence, then the sound of a slap, followed by Thelma Lou coming through the door with that same wide-eyed look of innocence. Then Barney appears with his hair mussed up and lipstick smudges all over his face, but he's acting completely nonchalant as though nothing happened. And Andy tries to cover his mouth to hide the smile of recognition on his face. Priceless!
