I had a rather bittersweet Mayberry evening last night. I presented my "What's
Your Hurry?" Mayberry presentation at a library in a very small town of 1000
which is just 20 miles from my small town. We had a very good turnout with a
number of my family and former high school friends showing up. Two of my very
close and dear childhood buddies both came and I hadn't seen either in over 45
years. So that was a wonderful surprise and we had a great time talking about
our growing up years together. However, during our conversations I learned
that both are alone after going trough divorces and both are totally estranged
from their younger brothers. That was so sad for me to hear as both came from
traditional close knit families and I knew their brothers so well too. So hard
to see that life has dealt them both some rather difficult challenges. I keep
thinking back to how simple and innocent our lives were back them only to
realize that as we grow up and change our lives often change in ways that we
would rather avoid. But in any event it was great to see both these guys as
well as others from my high school days.

Tonight I am doing another presentation at a Holiday Inn in town here and it
will be for a church group. So I am looking forward to another fun evening
sharing my love for Mayberry. Last night was the first time I changed into my
Checkpoint Chickie outfit during the presentation and it was a big hit.
