About air conditioning, when I heard the comment on the bowling episode about turning UP the air conditioning I always considered it as in turning a switch on the unit from perhaps "low" or "medium" to "High". In those days the units had switches more than they had thermostats like we do these days with our central air, so turning it UP simply meant going to a stronger setting. If they had used bigger wires maybe the power wouldn't have gone off on Howard's 300 game, lol.
