Well Brian,  I remember as a boy of 6 watching the very first episode of TAGS
on our black ans white Zenith in the den of my parents home.  My father was a
big Andy Griffith fan from his appearences on Jack Paar and he wanted to make
sure we watched.  Also, sometime in the early 60's (I can't remember which
year) we were a Neilson family.  We had to keep a log of the times and what we
watched on TV and mail it back to them.

Not to get off of the TAGS subject, but this train of thought got me to
thinking about my grandmother.  She was born in 1902 and passed away in 1999.
She lived by herself until she was 94.  I used to love to ask her about things
in the old days and just listen to her memories.  She witnessed the coming of
the automobile and airplane and then saw 2 world wars and man landing on the
moon.  What amazing things she saw in her life.

There are many, but I will just bore you with one story.  Before the depression
her family had been well off, owning orchards in the area of Roanoke, VA and
orange groves in Florida.  They would spend winters in Florida and the rest of
the year here in Virginia and would always travel by train.  Around 1917, with
the increasing popularity of the automobile, her father bought 5 of them to
take the whole family and various relative on their yearly trip south.  Now
remember, these were model T's with canvas tops and no windows.  Also, there
were few, if any paved roads.  The day they set off for Florida it started to
pour down raining and never let up all day.  It took them 12 hours on muddy
roads to get from Roanoke to Martinsville, which is about 60 miles give or take
a mile.  Several days later they travelled through Savannah Georgia and my
grandmother said they saw the first traffic light they had ever seen.  She said
they all laughed and
laughed because they knew that would never catch on in Virginia.

Just some memories of my sweet grandmother from my feeble mind.
