Whenever I am scheduled to do a presentation I tell the person who
schedules me beforehand that I have a toy cap gun and that I will be
wearing it. It hasn't been a problem at all and I have gone into churches,
schools, universities, libraries. I don't wear it when I first enter but
put it on when I am about to do my presentation. The director of this last
presentation said she notified the university security that I would be there
and would be in uniform with a toy gun. Our local police department and
county sheriff know that I have a cap gun. If fact when I spoke this week
the director came up to me afterwards and said she was sure I would have
accidently shot my gun off and then have my wife take it away from me. I
did this at another presentation and she was there. But I explained that I
didn't want to do that at the university. My gun does have the bright orange
part at the end of the barrel so it is obvious that it is a toy.
I do have a Plan B ready just in case there ever is an issue. I carry a
comic book with me and I figure if I can't have my gun displayed I will
stick the comic book in my holster like Goober did.
