Andy got it right!
When you turn UP an air conditioner, it has NOTHING NOTHING to do with the
thermostat! Good grief!!! It has to do with turning UP the fan/blower from
LOW to HIGH. When the AC was turned UP in the bowling alley, it put more
strain on the AC's motor and resulted in blowing a fuse which turned the lights
out. There were no breaker boxes back then, only fuses that would blow and you
replaced. So YES YES YES, turning UP the AC is the correct term. LOW TO HIGH,
LOW TO HIGH!!!
Next: Rolling down a window is also the correct term. Before power windows
and door locks, everything was MANUAL. The pane of glass in the doors were on
ROLLERS, YES ROLLERS. The handle was turned clockwise to ROLL the window down
and counter-clockwise to ROLL it back up!!! My first car (1967 Plymouth) and
my current truck (1999 Toyota) both had manual windows. Nowadays, most
vehicles have power windows that are sitting in grooves/trays that are raised
and lowered electrically with gears inside the door panels. So ROLLING a
window down refers to vehicles that had manual windows, because the glass was
sitting on ROLLERS!!!!

Talk about nit-pickin stuff to death!!! That's MY pet peeve!!! AM I GETTIN'
THROUGH TO YOU FELLAS??

p.s. I'm gonna go out and git in my truck, ROLL my windows up, turn UP the a/c
and go for a ride on this hot evenin'
       It's a southern thang. Ya'll wouldn't understand! LOL!!!!

Yep, Andy got it right!!!!
