I had my best Mayberry moment ever this morning. I had a scheduled appointment this morning to have some lab work done at one of our city clinics. I checked in at the designated time. The receptionist asked me for my name and date of birth. When I told her Ken Anderson and my birth date she entered it into the computer. Then she looked up and said with a smile, "Oh, you are Barney Fife who has the police car." My response was, "Good grief, don't tell me that's how they have me listed in your records?" She laughed and explained that she recognized me from being at a big car show and picnic their church sponsored several weeks ago. I received three more requests this week for Mayberry Presentations. One group wants me to do three in one day. There is a large organization of 700 retired folks meeting for their Education Day and they would like three sessions of Mayberry. Another group today is a women's church group. I will be sure to take along my Colonel Harvey Elixir bottle I use with that clip. Last call was for a volunteer recognition dinner in a city about two hours away. Sunday I head to my little home town for a parade. I was in a parade there last in 1958 when I was but a wee lad of 12. We did a parade and car show last Sunday and it was so much fun. I love it when people shout out "Hi Barney", but I love it even more when I hear, "Hi Mr. Anderson" only to discover it is a former student that I haven't seen in many years.
