We all know there were many criminals who found their way into Mayberry. Who would you say was the dumbest criminal to set foot in Mayberry? My choice would be a tossup between the bookie barber and the counterfeiters. Who would even think about setting up a bookie operation in a barber shop on Main Street right next door to the sheriff's office? Then their clients would walk in carrying suspicious looking black bags. And then they would exchange the cash right in broad daylight in front of a large window. Or who would set up a counterfeiting operation in a vacant store on Main Street and then actually hire a receptionist and then not give her any work to do? Did they really think no one would ever come into their store to have printing done? I often wondered how they printed Andy's business cards when they most likely only had the plates for the money.
