Regarding what I hand out at the parades; they are Junior Mayberry Badge
Stickers. I have some silver ones and some gold and they are five pointed
stars that say "Junior Mayberry Deputy". I hand them out at car shows too.
I had several thousand made last fall and they are going fast. I enjoy
giving them out at car shows more as I can take the time to put them on the
kids and tell them what they are. Also in the parades it is kind of hit and
miss as to who gets them. This Saturday and Sunday I will be back at Fall
Creek where I taught for 30 years. Saturday is their big car show and
Sunday is a parade. Their paper did a very nice story about my Mayberry
hobby this past week. I made arrangements this weekend to speak at a church
in a neighboring town. Today while I was working at the store a woman came
through my line. She introduced herself and told me she was the person
responsible for getting me as the speaker for their church. It turned out
she was a gal from my hometown who I had known when I lived there. Her
father was the owner of the small grocery store I mentioned in my book and
he rigged a contest for me to win when I was about 12. I have three pictures
of him in my PowerPoint program. Both she and her sister plan to come to my
presentation. That will be a lot of fun having them in the audience.
