Which episode moment gives you that special warm fuzzie? For me, its the Man in a Hurry episode (either 77 or 78), when Barney and Andy are sitting on the porch singing the Church in the Vale song, and Malcolm Tucker slows down his city pace for a moment, reminices about his past, and sings a brief stanza of the song.
His expression is priceless, and instantly you are transformed back in time with him to what you know is a much, much happier time and place during his life. After years of the stresses of life and the weight of the world beating him down, he gets a brief respite and glimpse of his past. To me it is hands down one of the finest written, directed, acted, and produced few minutes of art, ever. Its my favorite TAGS episode by leaps and bounds. In my humble opinion, no other episodes even scratch the surface of that one. I didn't even know what a vale was until I looked it up, but it doesnt matter. The song and their interpretation of it were spot on. I'm not the Biggest fan of Mr. Griffiths singing voice, but he and Barney nailed that one. You could put that episode in a time capsule, shoot it out to space, and if aliens or future humans discovered it light years later, it would make perfect sense to them, and be a good representation of what was once good about planet earth, and more importantly, the American South, through a mans memories and his personal, intimate relationship with his maker. Best episode ever.... Charlie Varney in Central TX _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
