>>On the episode where Opie tries to win his pa an electric razor at the
>>carnival... u know; the one where the sights on the rifle were bent.
At the beginning of the show the rifle Opie used had a big cord attrached to it
... ( like the air rifles they use at carnivals today ). Then later in the show
the cord was gone from the rifle/s and I " think " I remember hearing Goober
refer to the guns as 22's. Either way the guns didnt make what I would think a
22 rifle should sound like. Could you imagine if carnivals had 22 rifles laying
around at carnivals today !
Any insight ? No bent sights please.<<
I remember wayyyy back when the Magic Mountain amusement park in Valencia,
Calif (long before it became a Six Flags operation) had a shooting gallery that
used .22s! The rifles were powered by compressed air and the ammo was .22 sized
steel balls. Sorta' dangerous was that the hoses that connected the guns to
the air supply were long and that a careless or stupid dope could easily fire
to either side or even behind him. (talk about a safety hazard!)Funny was that
there were numerous signs posted that warned against hitting non-target
infrastructure down range (like fans, lights, piping). Even funnier was that
these items always had the most impact holes around them.
