I can't believe it...for once I know the answer to a TAGS trivia question, but the probably everyone else knows it as well. Jack Albertson played cousin Bradford Taylor and his sister Mabel Albertson played Mrs. Sprague. Hard to believe Mrs. Sprague was only in four episodes. Seems like she was in more than that. Here's another curiosity...Mabel Albertson was never married, but played some of our favorite mothers on TV in the 60's. Besides Mrs. Sprague, she was also Darin Stephens' mother on Bewitched and Don Hollinger's mother on That Girl. IMDB says she played a "mother-in-law" on an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1975 as well. Thinking of cousin Bradford makes me hungry for homemade ice cream.
