Fellow Mayberrians, Here's a subject that hasn't come up, so far as I can see, at least in a wee while.
This is under the wider umbrella of Mayberry props and costumes... During his early years in the show, Floyd wore a sort of wire rimmed glasses, up until his time away from the show, due to his recuperation from the stroke. After the stroke, his appearances were with the dark rimmed glasses. I've always assumed that the stroke necessitated a glasses change, but the more I think about it, I also wonder if it was part of a wardrobe update for Floyd? Has anyone read or heard anything about this? Most of the cast didn't seem to have any really noticeable wardrobe changes or updates, but maybe they were very subtle. It's one of those things that many of us, I'm sure, take for granted when we see Floyd, but it's got me real curious!
