I had yet another wonderful experience presenting my Mayberry "What's Your
Hurry?" program. This time my audience was a group of community professional
leaders including a judge, a board chairman of our large hospital, lawyers,
retired professors, and other such folks. I was a bit curious as how they
would relate to the wonderful world of Mayberry. Turns out I had no need for
concern as they were just wonderful participants and just plain folks. They
had many positive comments to share and enjoyed the program very much. One of
the men in the audience was a classmate to Clara Edward's nephew, Ferdie, who
was Eau Claire native Joel Redlund. A number of the people grew up in small
towns back in the 50's and 60's so they especially enjoyed the trip down memory
lane. Also enjoyed visiting with two former students as the head chef at the
country club was a from third grade student of mine as was the banquet manager.
So we were able to have a very nice visit. Only problem was that they were
disappointed that I was not able to bring the squad car, but I did share my
YouTube video of it. When I played "The Fishing Hole" while we were awaiting
our food, several men were talking about how it was too bad there weren't words
to the song. I didn't say anything at the time as I wanted to see their
reaction when I played Andy singing the words to "The Fishing Hole" when I
showed my pictures of the Mayberry people. They were very pleasantly surprised.
