I just watched a recent episode of one of my other favorite shows, MythBusters. The guys were trying to find out if a blindfolded person could travel in a straight line. At one point, they tried to simulate what it would be like to walk in very limited visibility (such as blinding snow or heavy fog) by walking around with buckets on their heads. They didn't mention whether or not it gave the voice a nice ring or made it easier to take a think under there.
