At our church Christmas party every year some of the guys and I sing a song or two as a barbershop quartet. (I think the addition of my daughter this year makes it a beauty shop quartet.) One of our songs we did this year was "Juanita." I'd never actually heard the song sung by anyone but Barney, so at that first rehearsal, just listening to the tape had me laughing so hard I was crying. Well, a month of listening to the song and a handful of practices later, we performed the song at the party tonight. It's a small group of folks, most of whom are "mature" enough to know and love TAGS. They were snickering when we got to the chorus, but everyone went hysterical when I started singing off-key in my best Barney Fife tenor (with body language straight out of Barn's solo on good-ol' 14A). Every time we practiced the song, I had sung it straight, so it was a surprise to my fellow singers as well. My daughter got so tickled she couldn't even finish the song.
