Well folks, as we draw near to the end of yet another year, all the good folks in Mayberry are busy making their New Year's resolutions. I talked with sisne if these good folks and they shared their resolutions with me so I thought I would share them with you.
Ernest T. resolves to come into rooms quieter and not talk through his nose so much. Aunt Bee resolves not to gossip so much especially about Mrs. Rigsby, that blond right out of a bottle. Opie resolves that he ain't going to say ain't any more. Barney resolves to keep his bullet in his pocket. Andy resolves to keep his pant leg over the top of his boot whenever possible. Otis resolves not to hit his mother in law in the mouth with a leg of lamb. Malcolm Merriweather resolves not to ride his bike and read a map at the same time. Briscoe Darling resolves not to dip his hat in the horse trough. The Darlilng Boys resolve not to raise their voices at the table. Charlene Darling resolves not to play "huggie huggie" with the Sheriff now that she is married. Floyd Lawson resolves not to write to any more Lonely Hearts Clubs. Emma Watson resolves to only cross the streets at the corners. Helen Crump resolves not to get angry when she is called a "third person". Jeff Pruitt resolves not to pick up his Little Buddy Barney. Thelma Lou resolves not to glue on hymn book covers. Sarah resolves not to listen in on telephone conversations. Mayor Pike resolves to gussy up the town again. Ralph Campbell resolves not to make those whistling sounds when he eats. Mayor Stoner resolves to get to know the governor a little better. Cousin Virgil resolves to learn a new card trick. Old Jud resolves not to shout and throw any checkers. Asa resolves not to fall asleep while on the job at the bank. Clara Edwards resolves not to go wild with allspice for the entire year. Leon resolves to not get peanut butter and jelly all over his face. Mr. Schwamp resolves to learn sign language.
