We know that both Andy and Barney served their hitch in the army. Barney talked about his experience as being in charge of a library with Quiet Sam. My question is this. When Barney went through basic training was he given an empty rifle? Maybe he had to keep his clip in his pocket. I don't imagine it would have taken his instructors very long to find out about his "greezy finger". That could well be the reason he was in charge of a library. I bet he was in charge of the books N- R. I hear those are the books that are checked out the most.
