I noticed another interesting thing in the Season six episode with Goober
and his talking dog. When Goober comes to the barber shop to tell Floyd
about his dog that can talk there is a calendar on the wall. The name of
the month is not visible but on the calendar the 12th and 21st are both
highlighted in red which would indicate that they were holidays. Those
days would be the birthdays of Abe Lincoln and George Washington, so the
month must have been February. Strange thing is it was a beautiful warm
summer day. The trees were all leafed out and Tommy and Opie were wearing
short sleeve shirts. This is the same episode where all the brand names on
the soda machine and thermometer are blacked out with tape. Also all the
oil cans and other products in the window display are turned around so only
the back of the cans are visible. I also noticed that the barber shop has
shrunk in size considerably since the early black and white episodes. The
color episodes scenes were not nearly as detail oriented as the early black
and white episodes.
