Paul said,"The other day Scooter mentioned seeing a bonus feature on a Dick Van
Dyke Show DVD that included Andy Griffith. I had no idea any "behind the
scenes" video of Andy on the set still existed (unless you count Ronny's home
movies). I'd be very interested in seeing this, if someone could tell me
exactly what disc it is on.

One of the I Love Lucy discs has a fascinating special feature which includes
aerial footage of the 40 Acres back lot (including downtown Mayberry) shot from
a helicopter. Sorry, I don't know which disc or even what set it's in; there
are still photos on Kipp Teague's website (retroweb)."

Well, I have all the season sets of "The Dick Van Dyke Show," but it's been a
while since I watched them, and I can't remember this bonus footage showing
Andy Griffith. I would have to go back and search. So if anyone else can tell
us, please do, as I would like to go back and check it out again.

As to the footage showing the 40 Acres lot, that is found on the second disc of
"I Love Lucy, The Final Seasons: 7, 8 & 9," also known as "The Lucy-Desi Comedy
Hour." You will find it under the bonus features. The whole thing is pretty
fun to watch, but if you want to see just the 40 Acres footage, it starts
roughly around fifteen minutes into the show. You will recognize the church,
the court house, the Remshaw house, etc., but you won't see Andy's house.
There seems to be a blank space there. I don't know if they constructed the
house just for TAGS, but it obviously was built after this show was filmed in,
I believe, 1958.
