I remember that, Wallace played himself. At the time he had a tough interview show on TV, and this was apparently a reference to that specific show. BTW, not this last Sunday night but the one before that...did anyone catch the "Mad Men" episode in which Andy is very briefly seen playing on someone's TV? It appeared to be a generic scene in which Andy is sitting at his desk in the sheriff's office, talking to someone on the phone.
