David you come close to preaching to the choir. I don't claim to be an authority on such things but I'm nearly 68 years old and do stand up comedy. Most of my act centers around a make-believe family that I claim to have grown up with. One of the boys in the family is said to be my best friend. One of the things I claim we did as kids was to go to the Saturday matinees(and as a kid I saw a lot of Saturday matinees) to see those cowboy serial pictures. So having said all of that here's what my memory of those serials come up with. I believe Hopalong Cassidy had more than one side kick. I think one of the most popular was fuzzy Knight. But I believe a young Edgar Buchanan was in a few of his movies as well. Durango Kid I don't remember much about except he wore a mask..I didn't see too many of his serials. Rex Allen of course besides movies I remember him singing on the old WLS Barn Dance..And his horse was KoKo. I believe he too had more than one side kick. But I think Buddy Ebsen may have been one of them. Well that's the best I can do. My bucket my have one of those infamous holes in it....
