Something that I have wondered about for a long time is the frequency of bus arrivals and departures in Mayberry. I have often thought it is strange that a bus would make daily stops at a small town that was off the main highway. When I was growing up in the 60's the buses would only stop at the larger towns on the state highways and would never venture into any of the smaller towns not on the main routes. When we see people traveling around Mayberry they are always on the narrow dirt roads that barely have room for one vehicle much less a large bus, so I wonder how the buses came into Mayberry. Of course there was probably one paved highway going into Mayberry but I am not sure if we every saw it. I recall when Gomer took Thelma Lou to the dentist he was on a busy highway, but that was probably the main road where Barney set up Checkpoint Chickie, but I still think it was strange that a bus would come to Mayberry every day. Any thoughts on this to generate a discussion????
