Another weekend full of Mayberry for us. Despite temperatures in the 90's all weekend we did a five hour car show and a long parade on Saturday and another long parade on Sunday. Wearing my uniform really makes me wonder why the costume folks on TAGS went with long sleeves. I recall back when I was young in the summer all the policeman wore short sleeves. I gave two police officers citations for having their squad cars illegally park while they directed traffic. When I placed the tickets under their windshield wipers the crowds applauded and cheered. Both officers really laughed and they came over to me and shook my hand. So great to see them interact. I had a second electric fan installed on the squad car to keep the engine from overheating and it works great. Temperature never went above 180 although I would swear the temperature inside the car was over 200 from the looks of my wife when she was driving. No air conditioning.
