I cannot help but comment of the vast differences in the legacies of Joe
Paterno and Andy Griffith and Don Knotts. Being a huge fan of Joe Pa for
many years ,my heart was very saddened when I saw the statue of Joe Paterno
removed from the campus of Penn State. It also saddens me to learn the
reasons why it was removed and under the circumstances I feel I must
support that decision. How wonderful and reassuring to know that there
shall never be such a tarnished legacy when it comes to our Andy Griffith
and Don Knotts. Andy not only portrayed a great man in his role as Andy
Taylor, but he he also lived the role of a great man of Andy Griffith. And
the very same thing can be said for Don Knotts. Never shall Andy's statue
nor the statue of Don Knotts be removed and never shall any of us need to
apologize for our feelings toward Andy Griffith and Don Knotts. In this
troubled and misguided world we need someone to look up to and idolize and
who better for us to fill that need than with the memory of Andy Griffith
and Don Knotts While the good folks of Happy Valley may be discouraged and
angry at this time, those of us in Happy Mayberry can hold our heads high
with pride and admiration to the two great men who made Mayberry the
wonderful place that it shall always be.
