We had another busy weekend with a car show and Sunday parade. The car show
was at a bar on the shores of one of our lakes. They invited me to bring
the squad car. Not being a drinker I wasn't sure how we would fit in. It
turned out to be quite a "dive". If ever there was an "Unlike Mayberry"
place this was it. We thought about leaving but decided we didn't want to
be "RUDE". We saw a lot of flesh and tattoos but the people were very
friendly and engaging. So we sat on the shore and listened to the band,
which definitely wasn't "The Dillards". The folks there loved the car and
they had a lot of questions, so all in all it was a very different evening,
but we are glad we went.

We were at a very small village parade on Sunday, but there were a lot of
people there as the weather was just fabulous. It is such fun interacting
with the folks along the parade route as I walk behind the car. It is so
funny to hear the comments that they shout out. We always hang around
afterwards for food and talk with the natives. During this parade I saw
the local police officer blocking the road with his squad car. I went up
to him and issued him an "illegal parking ticket". Just as I was about to
put it on his windshield he told me to wait. He ran and got a camera and
had to take a picture of me placing the ticket on the car. He shook my
hand and thanked me for being part of the parade. That's what makes it so
much fun.

As soon as our parade season is over on September 15, the squad car is
going in for a face lift for several weeks. I am having everything that is
black totally redone, so when it comes out of storage next spring it will
all ready for another great summer.
