We never do see Thelma Lou in church, but Barney did once tell Andy that she went to church with him every Sunday, and another time Barney got mad when she used her evening to glue covers back on hymnals with Edgar Coleman, so she does attend the All Souls Church. There is at least one other church in town; Barney mentions the Moravian church basement in Barney Hosts a Summit Meeting. In real life a young Andy Griffith attended the Moravian Church of Mt. Airy, where he received his earliest musical education.
