I have always been a bit confused about the military service of Andy and Barney. Their two high school reunions indicated they graduated in two different years, both being after World War 2. However, in Quiet Sam, Barney tells Andy he can't deliver a baby because in 1938 he had flunked high school biology. If that is the case, then Andy spent an awful lot of years attending Mayberry Union High unless he quit high school when war broke out and then went back to high school after the war and graduated in 1948. Also in Quiet Sam Barney told Sam that during the war he did his part to defeat the "dreaded Hun" which of course is a direct reference to the Germans. So it sure is confusing to say the least.
