Aunt Bee enjoys a good laugh in The Rumor, when Barney tells her he dropped a filing cabinet drawer in an attempt to keep Andy busy at the courthouse. Why J through Z would all be in one drawer of a four-drawer cabinet, and the TOPMOST drawer to boot, is a mystery.
Probably the only time she really breaks up laughing, to the point that she can barely speak, comes near the end of Howard the Comedian. She is telling a story about the time she was down in the cellar when the minister stopped by. Why this is supposed to be hilariously funny, I do not know, unless maybe the good folks of Mayberry routinely keep liquor in their cellars. Anybody have another explanation?
