I finally made time this afternoon to still the house, shush the doorbell,
smother the telephone, and take a deep breath as I inserted the DVD of my
favorite TAGS episode, "Christmas Story." I try every year to guard my
emotions as the familiar story unfolds, but after all this time, I still fight
back a few emotional tears. For one brief moment, I am transported back in
time to my own childhood in its wonderful, warm, loving, and caring
Mayberry-like community. I remember my late parents, my family, and those I
took for granted. I love the way the Christmas spirit manifests itself in the
unbridled joy of Andy, Ellie, Aunt Bee, Opie, Barney, and their jailhouse
guests. And I celebrate the transformation that occurs in our own resident
Scrooge, Ben Weaver. I am a professional church musician/organist and love
the majestic and magnificent music of Christmas, but once I've finally
performed this ritual of TAGS "Christmas Story," I can then sit back and allow
the Miracle of Christmas to happen in my heart.

May you all, and each of us, have a beautiful and blessed Christmas and a
happy, healthy new year. God Bless Us All, Everyone.
