There were a number of TAGS story themes that showed up again in Mayberry RFD.
In TAGS Aunt Bee bought a car and had an accident before she had a license and in RFD Mike bought a car and had an accident before he had a license. In TAGS Andy and Helen were lost in a cave, but found their way out only to go back in and Goober did the same thing in RFD. In TAGS Barney robbed the bank to prove there was no security and in RFD Howard robbed the bank to prove Goober was inept. In TAGS Aunt Bee bought a wig to wear and in RFD Emmett bought a wig to wear. In TAGS Aunt Bee ran against Andy's friend Howard for city council and lost and in RFD Emmett ran against Howard for city council and lost. In TAGS Andy, Aunt Bee, and Opie went to California on a trip and in RFD Aunt Bee, Sam, Mike, Millie, Goober, Emmett, and Howard went to California. In TAGS Aunt Bee opened a successful business but gave it up and in RFD Martha Clark opened a successful boutique but gave it up. In TAGS Barney let is slip out that a gold shipment was coming and in RFD Goober let it slip that moon rocks were coming to Mayberry. In TAGS Aunt Bee had a TV show about cooking and in RFD Howard had a TV show reading poetry.
