Since getting my 1965 squad car I have been particularly interested in watching episodes showing the Mayberry 1965 squad car. While watching the color episode "Man's Best Friend" I noticed two things for the first time. While the story takes place in summer with Opie and his friend wearing short sleeves and the trees in full foliage, Floyd has a February calendar on the wall. It doesn't show the name of the month, but the 12th is highlighted in red as is the third Monday, which would indicate these being Lincoln's and Washington's birthday. The second strange thing is that when Andy comes to Wally's for gas, there is no whip antenna on the car. It has been removed. There is a scene where Goober is putting gas in the car and the hose has to go all along the back of the car by the trunk. I imagine they removed the antenna so they could do this shot; otherwise the antenna would be in the way. I know when I gas I always pull up so the gas cap will be right next to the hose so I do not have to do what Goober did.
