> Gentleman Dan Caldwell

I don't have to vote. I know it's either Congressman Canfield or the Reverend.
If we're going to go only by the surface, the others are either criminals
(Gentleman Dan), shams (Mr. Wheeler, Roger), on the rebound (The Professor),
inept and ignorant (Darling, Briscoe Darling) or messy/sloppy (Mr. Goss). Now,
if truth be told, she really only cared about the Congressman and the Reverend.
But as far as personalities go, I'd take the Congressman any day. She never
went on a date with the Reverend but from what we see she's very taken with the
Congressman, even if they both had sore feet. The end with both of them napping
on the porch is just the sweetest thing and I do wish they'd brought him back
for more episodes. He was the only one truly from Mayberry and had the real
Mayberry spirit, laid back, easy going, but could cut a rug if he had to, and
he did. And for all our fantasizing Mayberry let's think he was a good
Congressman and not bought by lobbyists....

old wives tale"...."Johnny Paul ain't married"........
