Don't know if this has been said, but I've always thought "het" is sorta the 
past tense of "heat." So "het up" would be the same as "heated up." Sometimes 
"common" language makes more sense than "formal" language. When Grandaddy Smith 
(married to a Poovey, btw) said, "I knowed it" it always seemed more logical 
than if he'd more properly said "I knew it."
