I had a very emotionally packed day this Saturday as I made a return trip
to my hometown to give a Mayberry presentation at a Lions Club 50 year
anniversary celebration. Day started by having lunch with good friends
from high school and then spending several hours with them. Then we were
given a tour of the new library as I donate all my book/presentation
proceeds to the library. On to visit my childhood home. I hadn't been in
it since moving out when I was 19. It was bittersweet as it has been
totally remodeled into a beautiful home. Basic floor plan was unchanged,
but it was not at all like being back home. Then it was time for the Lions
Celebration. There were 150+ folks there and I was very well received. I
saw so many folks that I haven't seen in many years including former next
door neighbors and some classmates from high school. So many great
comments to me afterwards and they gave me a very generous check that I can
present to the library. And to top it off I got the car out of storage at
the fair grounds today although I had to drive it home in snow.
