Being that Gomer is so inept (he does become ept at repairing cars, I do give
him credit for that) I believe Barney assigned him to "clean up those Christmas
lights!" Gomer was sitting on the edge of the roof with the box of light bulbs
in his lap, and as Gomer would naturally do, he laid down on the job with the
box of bulbs still in his hands. Andy comes around the corner, looks up, yells
his name and he suddenly sat up with the contains of the box tumbling out and
on the ground. That's the picture in my head going round and round.
My favorite line in that episode is Barney "There's something going on, I can
just smell it." and Gomer "Oh, that's just the dinner." LOL!!!
