There was an interesting story in this week's edition of the Mayberry Gazette. Thought I would share it with you.
This year's annual Mayberry Founders Day Celebration was held this past Friday in downtown Mayberry. Folks came from all over the county to watch John Master's Founders Day Pageant. As usual, Mr.Master's pageant was a huge success and Miss Clara Edwards did an outstanding job with her portrayal as Lady Mayberry. Following the Founder's Day picnic and concert by the Mayberry Town Band, Mayor Stoner gave a short address. This year's schedule was somewhat different from prior year's as Mayor. Stoner insisted that the band play before he ate. The Founders Day celebration came to a conclusion Friday evening when a 21 gun salute was to be held followed by the releasing of a flock of white doves. Unfortunately, Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife accidentally released the doves just prior to the 21 gun salute. The poor birds did not stand a chance.
