Today I was cleaning up my yard where my old house used to be. All last year, every time I went over the yard I would fill up a big trash can with debris like broken glass, hunks of insulation, and pieces of roof shingles (tornadoes can be messy). These days each trip nets about half a trash can full. I don't suppose I'll ever get every last bit.
Anyway, today as I was finishing up, guess what I found on the ground: a quarter. Not an old, old quarter begging to be turned into gum and to ice cream, but a bright shiny new one, like you might get for playing nice with five polecats. My first thought was, a QUARTER? For a job like THIS? But then I took a closer look at it and discovered it was a Canadian quarter. Oh well, I guess I'll just put it in the collection plate next Sunday. Maybe it could be a missionary offering. Or maybe if Olive ever gets a job working at a diner in Canada, I could go there and leave it for her as a tip.
