Great news folks, I just received my August copy of "The Police Gazette" and this month's issue has "28 Interesting Crime Facts". So I thought I would share some of them as long as Barney and Andy are crime fighters. I do have to leave a few of them out because some of the Digest members have never been married.
Did you know: The average criminal sentence length is 137 years in Columbia. (That compares to a five dollar fine or five days in Mayberry.) In ancient Egypt, killing a cat was a crime punishable by death. ( I wonder what they got for killing a carp.) Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England, but only in tropical fish stores. ( In other stores they can wear peek a boo blouses.) Dueling is legal in Paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors. ( In Mayberry they had to be registered moonshiners.) The Chico, California City Council enacted a ban on nuclear weapons setting a $500 fine for anyone detonating one within city limits, ( I wonder if loaded goats were included in the ban.) America puts many more of its citizens in jail than any other nation, ( If Barney's arrests weren't included America would be even with all other nations.) And finally, In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her cheating husband, but may do so only with her bare hands. ( I bet they used one hand to make a mad worm with karate.) -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
