Today we attended out 31st event with squad car thus far this summer. It was a large classic car show with around 200 beautiful cars. The squad was chosen as one of the "Top 25 Cars" for the event so we came home with another beautiful trophy. But the best part was when I went up to get the award two kids ran up to me and grabbed me and shook my hand because they were so happy the Mayberry Car won.
Now for the big surprise. The car that won the top award was a Hudson Tarraplane. Now if this is the one that was advertized in the paper Barney was reading, he really passed up a good deal. A much better car than the one he bought from Hubcaps Lesch. When we got home from the car show I found a package on my doorstep. Upon opening it I discovered two items. One was a Mayberry Motor Inn coffee mug and the other item was a David Browning Bobble Head with Dave sitting on the motorcycle with a sidecar. What a treasure this is. It was sent to me by none other than the great guy who sold me my squad car, Bob Dewitt, from Wataga, Illinois. In mid August our Technical College is hosting a national Big Rig Truck Show for three days. They bring in large rigs from all over the United States for a big show. They never include cars. However, this year they are making an exception and have invited me to bring the squad car to the show on their opening day. What an honor this is. So life continues to be just great here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We may be far away from our beloved North Carolina, but the spirit of Mayberry is alive and well here. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
